Yep, it’s that time of year again when the offices start emptying
out faster than the biscuit tin in Accounts, Mariah Carey
defrosts yet again, and suddenly everyone’s “just quickly
popping out” for a Secret Santa they absolutely forgot about.
Don’t get us wrong, we love a bit of festive chaos as much as the next bespoke
furniture dealers — the mince pies, the questionable jumpers, the annual
debate about whether tinsel is professional (it isn’t, but we admire the
confidence). Truth is, the holidays do something magical to workplaces: they
soften them. Warm them. Remind us that we’re humans sharing spaces, not
productivity cyborgs wired to Outlook [yes, boss, we know you’ve asked Chat
GPT if that’s a thing yet...].
Those in the know have long insisted that cosy, well-designed environments
boost morale, creativity and, most importantly, general goodwill.
Which is precisely what most offices need after a year that felt roughly twentyseven months and three days long.
In this Christmas edition, we’ll unwrap (sorry, couldn’t resist) a few ideas
on how to bring seasonal richness into the workplace without turning the
boardroom into Santa’s Grotto. We will look at the pros of Kabin fever, and take
a leaf out of nature’s book to name just a few topics.
