TURN
INSIDE OUT
Us humans like blurred lines.
We’ve made normal the idea to workfrom-home, concepted workations
and even decided that it’s OK to put
pineapple on pizza.
F
ine, the jury is still out on the last one,
but when it comes to our world – the one
in which you rely on us for our furniture
expertise and space-planning nous – there
is no line more blurred than the one that
currently exist [or doesn’t] between what’s in
and what’s out.
And no, we’re not talking from a style or design
point of view, but rather from an indoor/
outdoor one.
Doctors, psychologists, HR professionals and
line managers are singing from the same hymn
sheet; being able to step outside during the
day – even to be able to do some work from
there – has massive health and productivity
benefits. And product designers are heeding
their advice. More and more, we are seeing
furniture designs that can straddle the blurred
line effortlessly, being equally at home inside
and out, rather than or.
