to go together: salt and
pepper, politicians and lies,
billionaires and boats.
What you didn’t expect to see on
this list, is environmentalists and
super yachts…
Lobby groups and zealots, sporting
orange powder, have long since
bemoaned [and rightfully so,
mind you!] the ludicrously high
ecological toll things like super
yachts and private jets take on the
environment - all for the simple
pleasure of a very, very select few.
That is until now at least…
Measuring 600 ft in length, the
REV Ocean will be [and we say
‘will be’ because she’s still in the
making] science fiction incarnate!
Funded by Norwegian billionaire,
the vision for the REV Ocean is to
become an eco-metropolis powered
by hybrid energy, manned by the
best scientific minds on the planet
and filled with the best tech money
can buy.
It’s mission? To make oceans
healthy again by carrying out
research that encompasses the
whole marine ecosystem.
The super-sized ship shares its
name with the not-for-profit
foundation that Røkke established
together with marine biologist and
former WWF Norway CEO Nina
Jensen. The vessel itself forms a
major part of the organization’s
strategy to spearhead the next
generation of ocean solutions
and raise awareness of the global
impacts of pollution, climate
change and overfishing.
