that feels good, looks good and does
good!
Smart Ocean is a sequel that’s
made for the future as much as the
present. It goes beyond sustainability
- incorporating nearly 2 lbs. of
reclaimed fishing nets throughout the
chair’s making.
Smart Ocean utilises material from
discarded fishing nets that have
been collected in an effort to develop
innovative solutions to prevent ocean
plastic pollution. The fishing nets
are transformed into plastic pellets
and then used to manufacture Smart
Ocean chairs. Smart Ocean is the
first-ever ergonomic chair to be built
with recycled net and is also certified
by the International Living Future
Institute to the full Living Product
Challenge — meeting the most
rigorous sustainable manufacturing
criteria to date.
To boot, the chairs are Net [ahem,
there’s a pun somewhere in here]
Positive, which means that it provides
clean energy and water simply by
being produced! Nifty!
Plastic’s certainly not fantastic - and
we need to use way, way less of it.
But, removing it out of the natural
environment and repurposing it into
long-lasting products certainly goes a
long way to helping the environment.
