WAVES OF
CHANGE
FROM OCEAN PLASTIC
TO FANTASTIC
Last month we celebrated World
Ocean Day.
It’s various salty waters cover no less
than 70% of this pale blue dot’s
surface and supplies 3 100 000
000 people with their main source
of protein, helps to regulate the
climate and even generates most of
the oxygen we breath.
Yet, we’ve not been a very good
custodian.
Created entirely from recycled
plastic, this new range brings
new life to waste products - from
debris found floating in our seas
to post-consumer plastic bottles,
destined for landfill.
Every year, an estimated 12 million
tonnes of plastic waste end up in the
world’s oceans. In some places, it’s
gotten so bad that trash has formed
literal floating islands. At the same
time, climate change is damaging
coral reefs and other key ecosystems;
overfishing is threatening the stability
of fish stocks; nutrient pollution is
contributing to the creation of dead
zones; and nearly 80 per cent of the
world’s wastewater is discharged
without treatment. Yuck.
